What does it means to Parent as a Leader?

Create Influence vs Exert Control

Rewards and punishments are manipulations to control others. That's just a fact. Doing those things, or having them done to you, makes you feel gross. I know you remember being a child and thinking, "I'm never going to do this to my child."

Manipulation, no matter how positive you make it, erodes your connection to your child. When the connection is broken, you lose all your influence.

Influence is the way to have long term impact. You want your child to ask you for advice for their entire life. That only happens by building your influence.

In this community, you will learn how to build and use your parenting influence.

Understanding Replaces Miscommunication

Adults and children communicate in different ways.

When you and your child misunderstand each other, it creates a disconnect in your relationship. You pull away from each other. To be influential you strive to correct miscommunication.

This means you have to learn and understand how your child makes sense of the world.

Your child will struggle to communicate clearly. That's why it's so important for you to create clear communication. Wondering how to do that?

I'm here to bridge the gaps in your knowledge of how your child communicates and how to clearly communicate with your child.

This means you have to gain an understanding of how your child makes sense of the world.

Your child will struggle to  communicate clearly.  That's why it's so important for you to create clear communication. Wondering how to do that?

Your Child Above All Others

Do you put your child above others? I'm sure you’re nodding your head, saying, “Yes!”

But, I have a question for you. When you're at the grocery store, whose experience are you more worried about? Your child's? Or the other shoppers'?

It may surprise you how often you put others above your child. You're doing this out of a true desire to teach your child consideration for others. Unfortunately, this reduces your child's desire to listen to you.

The family structure evolved to protect its members. Originally, our biggest threats might have been starvation and wild animals, but now, our children are more likely to be at the mercy of social media bullying and scary ideas about how they should look. If you want to have more influence over your child than their peer group or the media, you have to revive your role as protector and be their safest place, both emotionally and physically.

How long are the live sessions?

Each session will be at least an hour and a half. But they can be longer. IT just depends on how many people are on the call and how many questions everyone has.

How do I participate in a live session?

The live sessions will take place on Zoom. Zoom is a free program you can use on your favorite device. Go here to download it. You will be emailed the link so you can access the live session. You can join or leave at anytime during the broadcast.

All the session are recorded and posted to you member area within 48 hours of the live session ending. You can watch and rewatch the session as many times as you want. There is also a comments section for each video. If you have follow up questions on anything discussed during the session you can ask and comment in that area.

Can I still ask a question if I'm going to miss the live session?

YES! You’ll be able to email questions prior to the session and ask questions in the discussion section of the videos of each session in your member area.

Those who are on live will get priority in asking questions. It’s possible if you email your question there won’t be time for me to answer it.

But I sometimes pop in live to the facebook group to answer a question I couldn’t get to live.
